Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 6, 2026 · Version 1.0

This Privacy Policy describes how the Sello app ("Sello", "we") handles information related to your use of the app. Sello was designed around a core principle: as little data as possible. Betting filtering and blocking happen entirely on your device. This policy is compliant with Brazil's General Data Protection Law (LGPD — Law No. 13,709/2018).

At a glance

  • Anonymous account: you don't create a login with email or password. Your identity is tied only to the Google Play account used for the purchase.
  • 100% on-device filtering: blocking of betting sites and apps runs locally on your phone.
  • Your browsing history is NOT collected or sent to servers.
  • Accessibility: used only to detect betting apps — it doesn't read any other content on your screen.
  • Device Administrator: used only to make Sello harder to uninstall during the blocking period.
  • Our server stores only your self-exclusion state (the blocking period) and your license.
  • Payments are processed by Google Play — Sello never receives or stores your card details.

1. Data we handle

Sello was built to run on the minimum of personal data. Here's what is and what is not handled:

CategoryHow Sello handles it
Name, email, passwordNot collected. The account is anonymous.
Browsing history / sites visitedNot collected or sent. Filtering happens on the device and generates no server-side record.
List of installed apps / detected betting appsEvaluated locally on the device for blocking. Not sent to our servers.
Google Play account identifier (purchase license)Used to validate your purchase and link the license. See section 4.
Self-exclusion state (active blocking period)Stored to ensure the period can't be shortened, including after reinstalling. See section 4.
Payment data (card)Processed by Google Play. Sello never receives or stores it.

2. Filtering happens 100% on your device

To block betting, Sello uses a local VPN (running only on your phone) and betting-app detection. All of this processing is done on the device itself. The content you access and your browsing history are not collected, logged, or transmitted to Sello or third parties. The local VPN does not route your traffic through our servers — it only applies the filter locally.

3. Permissions and why they're needed

Accessibility Service

Sello uses Android's Accessibility service exclusively to detect when a betting app is opened and then apply the block. Sello does not read, collect, or transmit any other content from your screen, typed text, passwords, or information from other apps.

Device Administrator (Device Admin)

This permission is used only to make Sello harder to uninstall while a blocking period is active — it's what delivers the "no off switch" promise. It is not used to erase data, track location, or control your device in any other way.

Local VPN

Used to filter connections to betting sites on the device itself, as described in section 2.

4. What our server (backend) stores

Our backend stores the minimum needed for the app to work and for the lock to be reliable:

We do not store your browsing history, your payment data, or information that identifies you directly by name or email.

5. Payments

Purchases are made and processed by Google Play, in line with Google's privacy policy. Sello does not collect or store your card or payment-method data. From Google we receive only the purchase confirmation needed to unlock the license.

6. Data sharing

Sello does not sell your data. We do not share personal data with third parties for advertising. Purchase handling is done by Google Play as the payment processor. We may disclose information if required by law or court order.

7. Your rights (LGPD)

Under the LGPD, you have the right to confirm the existence of processing, and to access, correct, anonymize, port, or delete your data, among others. Because Sello runs on minimal data and an anonymous account, some of this information may not exist on our side. To exercise your rights or ask questions, write to [email protected].

7.1 How to delete your data

To request deletion of your data, send an email to [email protected] with the subject "Delete my data". The account is anonymous, so we don't ask for a name or password; if possible, include the anonymous device identifier shown in the app's Settings. We process the request within 30 days and confirm by email.

What gets deleted: the anonymous account, the record of your license/subscription, the self-exclusion state stored on our server, and the associated identifiers (device_id and app_user_id). What may be kept: minimal records required by law or to prevent fraud, and aggregated/anonymized data that doesn't identify you. Deletion does not shorten a self-exclusion period that is still active on your device.

8. Retention and security

We keep the self-exclusion state and license for as long as they're needed for the service to work. We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect this information. No system is 100% secure, but because we handle minimal data, exposure in the event of an incident is reduced by design.

9. Children and minors

Sello is intended for people over 18. We do not intentionally collect data from minors.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. Relevant changes will be indicated on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
